Installation View: Untitled #1, from the Vacancy Project. 10’x20’ vinyl photograph with 2 min video loop. 2010

For my Vacancy project, I investigated the over-development of New York City. Some of these works involve my video/photography collage process in which aspects of a photograph are removed and then re-projected into the image, either as still imagery or subtle animation.

In Untitled #1, I comment on the impending destruction of the Hunter College MFA studio building on 41st street in order to make way for new condo development.

This “projection graffiti” was created in response to the over development of South Brooklyn where I was raised. Migrating birds have been threatened by the many glass towers being constructed.

For this “Projection graffiti” piece, I projected an image of Old Brooklyn onto a newly built condo in response to the over development of Brooklyn.
